THERE ARE plans to convert the garage of a home at 81 Bede Haven Close, Bude to provide shelter for vulnerable adults.
A planning application has been submitted by Deborah Holloway under the ‘shared lives scheme’ for a self-contained annexe which she says will predominantly be occupied by a vulnerable adult under the scheme alongside non-paying family and friends. The scheme aims to provide shelter for those who find it difficult to live alone.
Ms Holloway says she is a registered and experienced carer with the ability to provide this valuable care within the shared lives arrangement. In her application Ms Holloway said she will be available at all times to meet the needs of the occupier with duties including continence management, basic life support and even palliative care.
To provide the accommodation the garage would be converted to include a flat roof extension to the rear with a shared porch extension to link the annexe to the main house.
n FOLLOWING refusal for a residential development on land west of Mayna Parc, Petherwin Gate, Launceston pre-application advice has now been sought for an alternative development of up to nine houses which will include six affordable semi-detached homes.
n A PLANNING application has been made to demolish the existing buildings on land north of Langston Villa, Coads Green to replace them with a new home.

n PLANS to replace a substandard bungalow at Trefusis, Pipers Pool and build and additional home in the garden could comply with ‘rounding off’ policy and gain planning consent according to pre-application advice. But the replacement dwelling should reflect the current scale of Trefusis as should the additional home – it is expected that both should be bungalows, although dormer bungalows may be acceptable, as houses would not be appropriate in the area.
n THE GO-AHEAD has been given to change the use of part of the Atlantic View Hotel and manager’s accommodation at Treknow, Tintagel into a single residential home. The hotel closed two years ago mainly due to the pandemic. The approval notice acknowledged that the site is surrounded by dwellings of varying forms and designs and acknowledged the proposals are considered in keeping with existing local land use.
