A GROUP of enthusiastic like-minded people in Bude-Stratton and the surrounding area have formed a Community Interest Company with it’s flag bearer being an internet radio station.

Portrayed as Cornwall’s very own radio station ‘PIRAN RADIO’is now broadcasting 24 hours a day. The number of presenters continues to grow and it is hoped that there will soon be a full schedule of presenters.

It is a non-profit making venture to involve the whole community and promote local interests.

At the moment though small in numbers with a vision to expand they have recently held their opening day outside broadcast which relayed a live performance of ‘Friggin Riggin’ from outside the Falcon Hotel.

The mainstay of the station at the current time are Mr C (Colin Austin) with his lunchtime show, followed by Martyn Squire with drive time. Morning and evening schedules have been variable but the ever presents are DJ Apollo, DJ Kevlar, The Silver Fox (David Trott), Kev and Lottie (Price), Graham with ‘Vinyl memories’, Tom’s ‘Happy tunes’, and more recently the addition of Rob Sands and ‘Dad Boy’s Rock’.

A spokesperson said: “Very soon there will be an opportunity to advertise on air or sponsor a show. Once founding costs and expenses have been met then surplus gratuities will be given to local charities, and especially local arts projects.

“It has to be noted that all the presenters are volunteers who just love the idea of engaging with others through music.”
