PROPOSALS for 250 homes at Stourscombe Farm appear to be progressing, despite the objections of local residents.
In their consultation responses, the two local councils (town and parish) indicated they had no objections to the plans by Wessex Strategic Limited.
Launceston Town Council said it offered support to the proposals in principle subject to provision of land for a new town cemetery.
Lawhitton Parish Council said: “The council cannot oppose this plan as it stands.”
They added that an element of affordable housing in the site should be reserved for local people, adding that they felt there was no guarantees this would happen.
The parish council added that the plan proposes a new road be constructed to alleviate the current issues on Bulsworthy Lane, and that they hoped that if the estate was sold on, split between different developers or construction begins, the road would still be built.
In their submission, they concluded that the current proposals did not address concerns they had over the current road in place.
No provision would be sought for extra funding for local healthcare unless the plans change.
In a response to the consultation, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly ICB said: “Section 106 funding will not be sought on this occasion due to sufficient patient capacity evident across the associated surgery impacted”, adding that they would reassess this position if plans changed.
• The proposed plans for a development at Stourscombe Farm are for 250 homes, not 75 as previously published. The Post is happy to set the record straight.
