A TOWN council is hoping that local creativity will shine through with an upcoming initiative to commemorate an iconic landmark.

Bude-Stratton Town Council is asking if people, local and further afield, are passionate about patchwork, enchanted by embroidery, or avid about arts and crafts? If so, it is calling for help as creativity is needed.

As part of the Compass Point Project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the iconic Storm Tower (Pepper Pot) was successfully relocated to protect it from coastal erosion for years to come.

Now, the community is embarking on a new chapter and needs help from local creatives. The plan is to create an impressive textile mural celebrating the town’s historic sites.

Whether experienced at sewing or a novice needleworker, the council has expressed that all are welcome to join this community effort.

The first planning session will be held in the Blanchminster Room at The Castle, Bude, on Wednesday, September 18, at 12pm.

A spokesperson said: “Don’t miss the chance to contribute to a piece of Bude’s history and meet fellow craft enthusiasts. Join in and be part of something truly special.”
