THE end of the regular league rugby union season is upon us this weekend with Post area clubs Launceston and Bude in action. Launceston, who are guaranteed to finish fifth whatever happens, welcome Ivybridge in Regional One South West (3pm).
The All Blacks beat Exmouth 44-5 11 days ago in their penultimate encounter and have 12 wins from their 21 games.
They will use it as a warm-up before next weekend’s Papa Johns Community Cup opener at league rivals Barnstaple.
The North Devon side look set to finish second, and also in the group are Regional One Midlands outfits, Oxford Harlequins, who visit Polson Bridge on April 20, and Banbury, who Launceston go to a week later.
Elsewhere around the club, the Castles will look to finish strongly when they visit St Agnes in Counties Cornwall Three.
The Castles are now third following Camborne Seconds being deducted five points for conceding a fixture.
The ladies, who require a point to win Women’s NC 2 South West (West), will have to wait yet another week as they aren’t due to be back in action until visiting neighbours Bude on Sunday, April 14.
Bude’s men’s first team know they will finish in the bottom two of the Counties One Western West division following Saturday’s 46-26 defeat by promotion-chasing Paignton at Bencoolen Meadow.
The Seasiders will round off their campaign against third bottom Bideford (3pm) on home soil, knowing a five-point win coupled with their North Devon visitors getting nothing, would see them finish within a point.
Saturday’s result means Bude could be relegated depending on what happens in other divisions.
The seconds will finish their Counties Three Cornwall campaign with a long trip down to Roseland.
Bude’s ladies still have three fixtures to play, and are due to be in action on Sunday when they head down to Helston (2.30pm).
