JAMES Dawe struck a superb 85 not out as Launceston made it five successive wins with a four-wicket victory over mid-table Saltash St Stephens on Saturday.

The visitors chose to bat and made a competitive 196-7 with Simon Yeo (39), Alex Johnson (32) and Duncan Nobes (34) all passing thirty.

The trio of David Cox (2-32), Ethan Green (2-32) and Matt Bloomfield (2-42) shared six wickets.

Launceston slipped to 37-3 in reply, and although Darren Jenkin (25) and James Dawe added 47, Jenkin and David Sillifant departed in successive deliveries to left-arm spinner Matt Petherbridge.

But Dawe, who faced 92 balls and struck 12 fours and two sixes, found fine support from Toby Theobald (22) and David Cox (18no).

Runaway leaders Luckett were beaten at Grampound Road Seconds.

The visitors chose to field but the Roadies racked up 237-7 despite 3-51 from James Wilkinson and a tight spell from Adrian Berry (1-27).

Luckett were close to full strength but soon found themselves in big trouble as Freddie Matthews took 4-30.

Skipper Andrew Hoskin made 59 before retiring hurt after taking a blow to the face, and while there bits and pieces from Marc Brown (16), Jonny Hoskin (18) and Leion Cole (20no), the end came at 174.

Werrington dropped into the bottom four after losing by 49 runs at Boconnoc who leapfrogged them into eighth.

Paul Miller (4-37) and Sam Smeeth (2-55) shared six wickets as the hosts racked up 220-6.

Werrington were all out for 171, Dan Warring leading the way with 32.

Miller added 31 while there were twenties from Ed Walters (28) and Simon Bishop (24).

Elsewhere in the division, Callington Thirds beat Tideford by eight wickets having been set 155 to win, while there were also victories for Roche Seconds and Liskeard.
