SWPL PREMIER WEST (SATURDAY)
Launceston 2 Dobwalls 2
THE Clarets have now met Dobwalls three times since April, with all three games drawn.
The visitors controlled the early stages at Pennygillam on Saturday and took the lead after 25 minutes when the lively Kaycee Fidelis headed home.
Launceston were back on level terms after 39 minutes when Andy Watkins ran onto a Lewis Young through ball and lobbed keeper James Morley from 18 yards.
The Clarets were awarded a penalty just before the break when Watkins was brought down after good work by Mark Elvidge and Young. Following the incident, defender Anthony Davey was shown a red card by referee Ryan Dennis to which the visitors were furious about, but Morley got down sharply to keep out the resultant Watkins spot-kick.
Mr Dennis had his hands full by this stage and issued a series of yellow cards.
Dobwalls continued to push forward despite being a man down and moved back in front after 56 minutes when Dan Tate rammed in a loose ball following a corner.
Launceston lost Jaden Wood to a nasty-looking leg injury, but gradually made their numerical advantage tell and started to dominate possession.
Josh Harris hit the crossbar from 20 yards and lively substitute Jason Hoar fired just wide of the near post.
The pressure finally told when, following a Watkins free-kick, Mark Elvidge flicked home a close-range header.
The Clarets ended the game on the front foot but although Lewis Young fired narrowly over from one good chance, Neil Price’s side were unable to grab a late winner.
