Cornwall Cricket League Division Four East round-up – Saturday, June 22

LAUNCESTON Seconds gave high-flying Duloe a scare before losing by three wickets in East Cornwall.

The visitors were far from full strength but the experienced duo of Glyn Hutchings and Danny Sloman rebuilt the innings with the latter making an aggressive 47.

Hutchings eventually went for 59 and bits and pieces got the team up to 171-9.

Duloe lost wickets throughout themselves but 46 from Felix Plant and a quickfire 38 towards the end from William Turpin got the job done despite two-fers for William Mansfield (2-16), James Law (2-48) and Tommy Davey (2-42).

With the first team short, St Minver Seconds had a different side to usual, but still picked up seven points from a three-wicket defeat to promotion hopefuls St Stephen.

St Minver made 161-8 from their 40 overs, opener Neil Kent top-scoring with 54, while 33 from Neil Meneer included a couple of sixes.

The reply saw wickets fall throughout, including 4-44 from Wadebridge legend Dave Dunnett, but an unbeaten 47 from Kyle Prophet got them home.

Elsewhere in the division, Michael Drown kept up his superb form as his 6-14 propelled St Neot to an easy ten-wicket home victory over Newquay Thirds at Wenmoth.

The coastal club were dismissed for just 78 before Jack Kent’s unbeaten 50 saw them over the line in the 19th over.

Pencarrow beat a depleted Menheniot-Looe Seconds outfit by 110 runs.

The hosts made a solid 195-5 which saw 45 not out from Eddie Thomson plus thirties from Kevin Sherratt, Greg Derry and Tristan Jago, and 20 not out from Daniel Cock.

Tristan Jago then took 4-22 in a reply which saw the highest scorer bar extras (31) making 11.

There were also wins for St Blazey Seconds and Grampound Road Thirds over Buckland Monachorum and Lanhydrock Seconds.
