North Devon Football League round-up – Saturday, March 22

MORWENSTOW’S hopes of a top three finish in the Senior Division took a blow on Saturday as they were held to a 3-3 draw at AFC Dumnonii Reserves.

The Greens headed up to the Meadow Playing Fields five points behind Woolsery with a game in-hand but were held despite Corrick Davies, Jake Gilbert and Ben Pengilly netting.

Morwenstow are back on their travels this Saturday when they visit South Molton.

Shebbear United are out of the Senior Division Combe Martin Cup after an emphatic home defeat by visiting Boca Seniors Reserves.

Sheb trailed 1-0 at the break but conceded three more as they pushed forward.

Tudor Placinta netted a hat-trick as Bradworthy remain on course for a cup double after easing past Braunton Thirds 3-1 in the Intermediate One Arlington Cup semi-final.

The Horniwinks, who face Topsham Town Reserves in the Devon Intermediate Cup final at Newton Abbot on Friday, May 16 (7.15pm) are also in the mix for promotion from the league and host Equalizers on Saturday.

Brad will take on Combe Martin Reserves in the final after they thrashed Hartland Reserves 7-1.

In the Intermediate One division, Putford’s top three hopes were dealt a blow as they were held to a surprise 2-2 draw at Holsworthy Thirds.

The Magpies led 2-0 at the break thanks to Will Harris and Harry Grigg before the villagers responded in the final 15 minutes via Adam Griffin’s screamer and superb sub Tom Gleeson’s header.

Morwenstow Reserves grabbed a useful point in their quest to avoid finishing in the bottom two as they held Shamwickshire Rovers to a 1-1 draw at Shop Playing Field.

Oska Holmes got the home goal in the second half after Henley Kelly had given the away side the lead at the break.

Elsewhere in the division, Kingsley Wizards took the honours in their inter-club battle 3-0 with Kingsley Park, which was the same scoreline Georgeham and Croyde Rovers won at Langtree Lions.
