BUDE Hockey Club’s under 10s and 16s were both in action on Sunday, March 30.
The under 10s represented Cornwall at the West Under 10s Championship in Bristol and after a tough start against Yeovil and Sherborne where they were comfortably beaten, they produced much-improved showings in their next three games.
The midfield of Brody Gatrell, Rufus Edwards, and Sully Reay connected passes, while some great running from winger Woody Linton and Axel Tippett created goal opportunities.
The backline of Huxley Crouch, Grace Snowsill, Era Sheppard and Lewis Clarke were kept busy but relentless tackling, goal saves and passing wide got the job done.
Their final outing was a great battle and again the Seasiders produced some great passing and linking of play.
After soaking up some pressure before clearing two short corners, Bude attacked again, closely missing.
After Era Sheppard made a superb goal-line clearance, Huxley was unlucky not to save a flick despite getting a touch.
Club spokesperson and coach Tammy Snowsill said: “We may not of won the games, but they grew so much over the tournament.
“We’re super proud of them all and what a future they have. Bude hockey's second year representing at West.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to all the parents’ support and Neal Reay and Andy Crouch for coaching.”

Bude Under 16s, made up of both boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 16, played their first festival over the final weekend of March at Penryn.
Elsa Marsh and TC, showing great development and energy, while Willow Du Plessis led with fierce determination and Emily Smart and Louis Motsch tackled hard in defence.
Zephyr Du Plessis, RC, Brody Reay, Mia Flynn and Maeva Motsch connected passes in midfield, working hard together to create opportunities and soaking up the continual attacks from the opposition.
Goal scorer Rhys Price working tirelessly up front with Matt Smart, while at the other end AJ Stevenson had a very busy time in goal and produced an array of fine saves.
Thanks were expressed to Martin Reay for coaching and umpiring.
