WITH no Cornish Times clubs in the Western League getting to take to the field due to frozen pitches on Saturday, attention was on SWPL Premier West outfits Bodmin Town, Callington Town and Dobwalls.
There were mixed results as Dobwalls beat Bude Town 4-0, Callington drew 2-2 at Penzance courtesy of Henry Bunning’s brace, and Bodmin were thrashed 6-0 at Launceston.
Read about all three games as well as the thoughts of Dobwalls joint boss Brad Gargett.
There is also plenty of football covered from lower down the pyramid.
Read about the latest from the St Piran League including Gunnislake going goal-crazy in a 9-0 thrashing of Launceston in Premier Division East, while Millbrook Reserves progressed in the Tracy Banfield Cup.
On the women’s football front there is a report on Liskeard’s victory over Bishops Lydeard in the South West Regional League Premier Division, while Saltash United beat much-fancied Helston in the league below – the Western Division.
We also find out the latest cup draws from the Cornwall Senior Cup, Cornwall Intermediate Cup and Cornwall Junior Cup.
Rugby wise, Saltash had a potentially season-defining clash at Redruth Seconds in Counties Cornwall Two, and came undone to leave them with no margin for error.
Both sides went into the game with 50 points from a possible 50, but it was the Reds that got the job done. Liskeard-Looe and Bodmin were also in action in the same division, with both falling short.
