FIRE crews from Holsworthy fire station were called to an electrical fire in the Pancrasweek area.
An electrical board and convertor unit caught alight and were destroyed by the fire.
A lean-to building housing electrical equipment was also significantly damaged after the incident, which was also attended by a unit from Hartland.
A spokesperson for Holsworthy Fire Station said: “A crew from Holsworthy were mobilised to a small fire in the open. On arrival crews discovered an external electrics store room attached to a property well alight. Another pump was required for additional fire media, Fire Control mobilised Hartland to attend and help bring the situation under control. Also National Grid were required to isolated the electrics at the incident.”
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue added: “The fire involved an electrical board and convertor unit which were 100 per cent damaged by fire. A lean to building housing electrical equipment measuring approximately two metres by two metres was approximately 60 per cent damaged by fire.
“Crews used one hose reel jet, three dry powder fire extinguishers, small tools, a thermal imaging camera and electrical gloves. National Grid attended and isolated the supply of electric. The cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.”
