LAUNCESTON boss Neil Price feels his side ‘shaded it over the 90 minutes’ following their 1-1 draw at Callington Town on Boxing Day.
The Clarets fell behind in the first half when Ben Langton headed home a corner moments after Jordan Stidson was sin-binned, but Denham Guild’s brilliant equaliser in the second half ensured a point headed back to Pennygillam.
A content Price said: “I thought it was an entertaining game and they are sixth so having a good season.
“They started well but I thought as the game went on we got better and better and I think we shaded it over the 90 minutes, but I’m delighted with the draw.”
Launceston grew into the game and had more of the chances at the Ginsters Marsh, but Price was particulalry pleased with the performance of Alex Parnell who started the season in the thirds.
Price said: “Everyone was so committed and everybody did well, but young Alex Parnell’s debut was as good as you will see for a 16-year-old centre-back. He was good in the air, physical and is good with his feet.
“He’s from Southgate Under 16s and another example of the youth set up we have with them since joining forces, and it shows the great work Steve Stoppard is doing with our third team.”
Launceston’s selection problems are easing and Price wants them to continue their upward curve on January 4 when they welcome Truro City Reserves (3pm).
He said: “We have some momentum and a bit more consistency in our line-up, so I’m really looking forward to the second half of the season as we have a threat up top now with (Kian) Berry, (Andy) Watkins and (Lucas) Preston, so we are now looking so much more competitive and hopefully we can pick up another positive result against Truro!”
